About Mary J Thurlow

Mary J Thurlow, born in California in 1970, showed early creative writing talent. Post-English degree and car accident, she pursued teaching and poetry.

Marrying Nick Thurlow in 1997, her international life has spanned New York, London, Zimbabwe, and Dubai. In California, she balanced motherhood with screenwriting.

Returning to England for her sons’ education, Mary earned British creative writing degrees, including from Oxford.

Transitioning from screenwriting, she authored the historical novel SANDRO & SIMONETTA in the Time of the Medici. Her prolific poetry, including, Quite Contrary and After the Rain, complemented her second novel, A Young Woman at the end of the Twentieth Century, drawn from personal experience.

An American-born, British-married, lifelong academic and creative writer, Mary lives in West Sussex, England, with her husband and two Labradors.
